The Liberal Democrats 2010 Manifesto - first look

The embargo on parts of the manifesto has been lifted and I can bring blog readers a first look at the cover and Nick Clegg's foreword.

As expected, the manifesto concentrates on the four key themes of the election campaign:

- Fair taxes, including the pledge to raise the tax threshold to £10,000 giving a £700 tax cut to most workers;

- A fair chance for people through a radical overhaul of our education system

- A fair future, creating jobs by making Britain greener

- A fair deal, by cleaning up politics

The manifesto deliberately does not have a flashy cover or title. The message is that Britain is still in the midst of a maelstrom - a financial crisis and a crisis of confidence in the political system. Now is not the time for a glitzy launch party but instead a workmanlike, though still radical, manifesto to make Britain better.

At the launch tomorrow at 9.30am, the full embargo will be lifted and will no doubt be covered in the news bulletins and online. Perhaps the best place to look to find the full details will be libdems.org.uk.
